Employer Process

4 Steps to Hosting an International Trainee

From defining requirements to welcoming your candidate at your Hamburg office.

1

Define Desired Candidate Profile

Specify the required educational background, language skills, related technical experience, any necessary software, hardware, tools, techniques, and methods, and the desired timeframe (8 to 52 weeks). The DAAD formats the internship offer for international dispatch (taking less than 4 hours of your team's time).

2

Global Candidate Matching

Your offer is distributed across the global IAESTE network of 80+ member countries. We review applicants for academic standing and present pre-screened candidate dossiers with verified transcripts.

3

Nomination & Final Selection

Once a matching profile is found and requirements are validated, IAESTE nominates the student and informs you to make the final selection decision. The option for a video interview with the candidate exists. Your team retains full autonomy to make the decision. Once accepted, IAESTE issues an acceptance note to start the immigration and preparation process.

4

Work Permit Clearance & Onboarding

IAESTE obtains federal ZAV clearance (required only for students outside Schengen and internships longer than 3 months) and handles all visa documents. Upon arrival, LC Hamburg greets your trainee, coordinates housing, and assists with local orientation for a smooth start on day one.
